Through all my years working as a Fiji holiday specialist, the island nation still continues to lure me in and surprise me every time I visit.
For my 43rd trip to Fiji, I decided to take my partner and our five kids, my parents, brother and sister in law and some friends on a family-friendly holiday staying at Plantation Island.
So that we could keep an eye on the kids, I stayed in a two-bedroom garden bure while my parents stayed in the brand new hotel rooms which were amazing.
The resort underwent a massive renovation recently, revealing 40 new rooms, a new restaurant, pool and bar — and I was absolutely blown away by the upgrades.
Plantation Island is a destination in itself and we spent a lot of time just resting and relaxing at the resort, as well as engaging in a few onsite activities such as canoeing and paddle-boarding, which were all included in the package.
The kids kept themselves busy at the free water park and they also enjoyed playing touch footy with the locals every afternoon.
Though there were many highlights, one of my favourite from the trip was a snorkelling excursion we took to a sandbar.
For those looking to visit, I would definitely recommend taking out half board which includes both breakfast and dinner.
