Once you and your fiancé are certain Fiji is the destination for your wedding, it’s time to consider who is going to make the invitation list.
You’ve no doubt selected Fiji, drawn by the idea of a tropical wedding on a beach or in a chapel, with a handful of friends and family. Perhaps there’s a sentimental connection or you want to escape the sky-high prices of tying the knot in Australia.
Another underlying reason may be to limit the number of guests, cause let’s face it, not everyone is going to have the ability to travel to Fiji for a wedding due to expense and time away from work. A Fiji wedding means cousin Stacey and her partner who you virtually never see, let alone connect with, are almost certainly not going to make the cut.
It leads to the question, what is the perfect size wedding parties in Fiji?
While I deal with a large number of elopements and groups of up to 150, the average size of my wedding parties tend to be around 30-40 guests.
Here’s a few points to consider when you’re filtering through your potential list of guests.
The larger the group the bigger the discounts you are likely to receive from suppliers such as transfer operators, as I can assist you with arranging shared transport between the airport and hotel or shared water taxis to island resorts. If you are thinking of organising a day excursion for your wedding guests, I can obtain better prices for you. I can also arrange a customised tour just for your group’s needs.
Another important factor for a large group that may be worth considering is you can hire out entire resorts and have exclusive use for your wedding, providing a totally unique & private experience.
Large groups need to book as early as possible to secure availability at the resort of your choice, to avoid disappointment.
With a smaller wedding party, resort selection tends to be easier as some locations in Fiji limit the maximum number of guests – due to venue capacity and seating – to 30, 40 or 50 guests. It means you may have more options available to you.
The more intimate the wedding party, the quicker the turnaround from a planning and booking perspective, the greater the chance of securing resort availability in peak season, and the more time you’ll have to spend with each and every wedding guest.
It’s also more cost effective to have smaller groups as most Fiji resorts have all-inclusive wedding packages for groups of 20-30 guests.
Remember also, your guests are not restricted to stay at the resort your wedding is being held. If cost is a concern for some of your party, I can assist you with booking an alternate hotel/resort nearby, regardless of the size of the group.
