It’s going to be a busy 12 months for Plantation Island Resort, with new accommodation and public facilities beginning construction last month.
There are two separate projects underway. ‘Project A’ consists of a new Arrivals Bure, Restaurant, Bar and the resort’s fourth Pool (pictured above). Work commenced on 01 May and is earmarked for completion on 01 April 2019.
Concurrently, ‘Project B’ will see 40 new ‘Hotel Style’ rooms added. They will be developed as 10 blocks of four rooms, in a configuration of two upstairs and two downstairs. Plantation Island expects the Hotel Rooms will be open to the public 12 months after construction began, opening on 20 May 2019.
Each hotel room will have either a patio or a balcony and accommodate two adults and two children.
Akshay Singh, Director of Sales, Marketing & Strategic Development for Rafffe Hotels & Resorts, the parent company of Plantation Island Resort, told I Do Fiji Holidays the Arrivals Bure will act as a staging area for guests when they first arrive at the Resort and their first point of contact.
“The buildings in this new precinct will reflect simple, Fijian architecture that we hope to roll out across the property in the future,” Singh said. Guests arriving earlier than the resort’s check-in time will have access to the new restaurant and pool while they await their rooms to be ready.
The resort demolished an older hotel room block it previously operated in October 2015. “We are now building a newer and much better version of this room type. These rooms will be brand new, near the ocean and will have great views,” he said.
In anticipation of disturbances to guests over the construction period, the resort is offering guests in Poolside Rooms, Studio Garden Bures and Studio Ocean Bures compensation in the form of an FJ$100 Food & Beverage Credit, per room per day. The offer excludes rooms 219-222 which are positioned on the opposite side of the resort. The credit can be married up with any specials that guests may already be booked on. For guests who decide they would prefer to cancel, Plantation Island is waiving all cancellation fees.
Plantation Island Resort expects to release further details about its new Hotel Room accommodation, including prices, in early 2019.
