There’s exciting hotel news for Denarau Island, with hotel group IHG this month announcing plans to bring its affordable Holiday Inn brand to the east coast of Viti Levu, Fiji.
The 173-room Holiday Inn Resort Denarau will be positioned on the riverfront adjacent to the entry of Denarau Island, and close to the popular Port Denarau marina.
While it’s not scheduled to open for another two years, the property will open up new opportunities for holidaymakers and wedding parties.
The resort will contain 21 specifically designed “KidSuites” & Family Suites, with facilities including three outdoor pools, a day spa and nightclub. There’ll be an all-day dining restaurant and bar, meeting rooms and a high-end commercial retail complex.
No specific facilities for weddings, such as a chapel, have been made public at this stage, but nightly rates at the Holiday Inn, should in theory, be priced below those of the nearby Sofitel Fiji Resort, Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Sheraton Fiji Resort or Sheraton Denarau Villas. The mid-priced Holiday Inn would appeal to friends & family of couples getting married who can’t afford the rates at the upmarket alternatives.
We feel the Denarau area needs a strong mid-market hotel to cater for the families & that is what this hotel will be designed to cater to.
