On 21.08.16 my now husband and I were married at Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa Coral Coast.
We chose Hideaway’s spa area to tie-the-knot, and it looked amazing. I loved it.
I ensured I was well prepared before we departed Australia for Fiji, and printed out a copy of some ideas for the Ceremony and Reception set up. The resort did a wonderful job.
I did need to remind myself we were not at home. We were in Fiji and things are done on ‘Fiji time’. The Fiji way. So if you are going over and expecting things to be “on time” and be done like you would expect at home, be prepared to be disappointed! LOL
I was supposed to be married at 3pm but the Hideaway staff were still setting up the venue at that time haha!!
Never-mind. We had issues with dress tying any way. The Fijian warrior guards were fantastic and a wonderful touch that made the walk from my room to the venue very special. Added touches like the drum being played as I walked made me feel pretty special too !!
Our guests all lined the path to watch me walk. One even played the bridal waltz haha!!
The ceremony was conducted by the resort celebrant. He was awesome and very nice. I had some friends from Fiji sing as i walked down the aisle they sounded amazing!!
The only fault I would mention was that nobody could hear us exchange vows as we needed a microphone, but relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.
We had our reception at what Hideaway usually have set up as the beef bar, but it had been beautifully decorated with tapa, white chiffon, fairy lights and balloons it looked awesome !!
The food was a traditional lovo. There was more than enough. Whilst not everything was delicious, everybody seemed to find something they liked. One guest had four plates, so it must have been ok lol !!
The cake wasn’t exactly what I asked for, but hey, it’s Fiji… who cares !!
The DJ was not great. She played a lot of gospel music and when asked to change she played slow instrumentals. When she was asked to change it again, she played two Taylor Swift songs off YouTube. She then closed her laptop and left lol !! Luckily the fire dancers arrived shortly afterwards and put on an amazing show for us.
Our night wrapped up early. We were all pretty tired, so by 11 pm we were on our way back to our room.
I had my hens-do at the spa the day before. It was lovely. Hideaway put on canapés and there were cocktails/mocktails available. We also had massages mini manis and pedis.
We got our thank you gifts from Jacks and Tapoo, and we went to visit Hot Glass Fiji for our toasting glasses (glass coconuts).
Leshni from Balance Fiji did my tan the day before the wedding. She did an AMAZING job!! I had the lightest techno tan and it was perfect. Lasted two weeks with the tan extender I was swimming and doing water sports, so its good stuff!!
Totoka Hair & Make Up Fiji came and did my make-up and they were wonderful. The poor girls got a few extra guests that decided on the day to change the plan and made it a bit tight for time, but they delivered, and I was so happy !! Thank you girls!!!
I brought my photographer, Rebecca from Rebecca Scharber Photography, from home. She said she would now love to go back to Fiji now! haha
